Water-Based, Halogen-Free, Low-Odour Flame Retardant
⚠ IMPORTANT – Test Before Full Application
Always perform a small test on a discreet area of the material before full application to confirm compatibility and suitability for the intended substrate.
Allow the treated area to dry completely and assess suitability, appearance and performance before proceeding with large-scale application.
Fire test results apply only to the specific test specimens evaluated and may vary depending on substrate type, application method, application rate and environmental conditions.

Product Description
Flame Retardant Solutions is a water-based, halogen-free, low-odour flame retardant formulated for application to suitable absorbent materials including untreated timber, plywood, natural fibre textiles, cardboard, hessian and paper-based products.
The product penetrates porous surfaces and is designed to assist in reducing flammability and delaying flame propagation when applied in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions.
Once cured, the product leaves no oily or sticky residue and does not significantly alter the appearance of treated materials.
Suitable Absorbent Materials
- Untreated timber
- Softwoods
- Plywood
- Interior wood panelling
- Natural fibre textiles (cotton, linen, hemp, jute)
- Upholstered furniture fabrics
- Curtains and drapes
- Canvas
- Hessian
- Cardboard
- Paper-based materials
Note: Always perform a small compatibility test on an inconspicuous area before full application.
Surface Preparation
- Ensure surfaces are clean, dry and free from dust, grease, wax and coatings.
- Apply only to untreated and unsealed absorbent materials.
- Remove contaminants that may inhibit absorption.
- Allow the substrate to dry fully before treatment.
Recommended Coverage
Coverage rates are approximate and will vary depending on the material being treated, substrate porosity, surface condition and absorbency.
- Fabrics and natural fibres: Approximately 10 m² per litre.
- Untreated wood surfaces (minimum three wet coats): Approximately 2.5 m² per litre.
A 20 litre drum can treat approximately:
- Up to 200 m² of fabric materials.
- Approximately 50 m² of untreated wood.
Always test a small section first to determine the correct application rate.
Application Methods
- Soaking: Suitable for smaller absorbent items.
- Spraying: Garden pump sprayer, trigger spray bottle or suitable spray equipment.
- Brushing: Suitable for smaller areas and touch-up applications.
